Statement as of 2010年 02月 10日 03:18 CST ... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST /6 PM CST/ this evening... A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST /6 PM CST/ this evening. * Timing... light to moderate snow will continue into mid morning before transitioning to moderate to heavy lake effect snow showers. Northwest winds will increase to 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph causing widespread blowing and drifting snow. * Main impact... total snowfall by this evening should range from 8 to 14 inches. Increasing northwest winds will cause widespread blowing and drifting snow... resulting in near blizzard conditions at times and some impassable roads in rural areas. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and blowing snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. |
