... Winter Storm Watch in effect from late tonight through Tuesday morning...
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Winter Storm Watch... which is in effect from late tonight through at least Tuesday morning.
A few rain showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two will develop across northern New Mexico during the evening. Precipitation will increase significantly after midnight and still further Tuesday morning with snow levels falling through that period. As this system has yet to develop... there is no past history with this system which makes pinpointing snow accumulations at this time quite difficult. But at least 4 to 8 inches generally above 7500 seems possible across northern New Mexico through Tuesday with possibly up to 10 or 12 inches on the higher peaks. Lesser amounts will fall between 6000 and 7500 feet with more rain than snow down lower.
Remember... a Winter Storm Watch means conditions are favorable for a hazardous winter weather event in and close to the watch area.
