Flash Flood Warning
Statement as of 2009年 07月 03日 18:17 PDT
... A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 730 PM PDT/730 PM
MST/ for central Clark and extreme west central Mohave counties...
At 614 PM PDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to
indicate a thunderstorm producing very heavy rain between Nelson and
Willow Beach. Radar estimated one to one and a half inches of rain
had fallen since 5 PM. The storm will move slowly northeast toward
Willow Beach... and anyone in the Willow Beach area should move to
higher ground and stay there until the storm has passed.
Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Willow Beach.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams... rivers... or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office in Las
Vegas.

... The flood advisory for minor flooding of urban areas remains in
effect until 715 PM PDT for central Clark County...
At 605 PM PDT... radar indicated thunderstorms with heavy rain just
north of Railroad Pass... moving northeast at 15 mph. The storms had
moved away from highways 93 and 95... but water may remain in poorly
drained areas through 630 PM.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
In desert terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. Several inches of swiftly
flowing water can carry vehicles away.
