Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday, May 17, 2008. The tail end of a cold front will remained draped over Florida and partially along the Southeast Coast. These areas can continue to expect areas of showers and thunderstorms, with the Southeast Coast drying out in the late morning.

The associated low pressure system will track up the Northeast coast while developing significantly. Because the bulk of the storm will be off the coast, only areas of showers are expected for coastal areas of New England.

Elsewhere, a Canadian frontal system will scrape by the Great Lakes and instigate areas of scattered showers through the region. Some precipitation is also likely in the Ohio Valley and New England late in the day as the front picks up moisture.

Also, some moisture from northern Mexico will stream north of the border and promote possible scattered showers and thunderstorms in New Mexico and Texas.

A stagnant ridge of high pressure over the West Coast will continue to bring well above normal temperatures to much of the West.

The Northeast will rise into the 60s and 70s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 70s and 80s. The Plains will rise into the 70s and 80s, while the West Coast will see temperatures from the 80s to the 100s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Friday ranged from a low of 25 degrees at Lake Yellowstone, Mont. to a high of 107 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
