Weather Summary

Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday, May 17, 2008.

A deep trough of low pressure will linger across western Europe on Saturday bringing more clouds and wet weather to the already drenched region. The trough will shift slightly to the east throughout the day resulting in a gradual decrease in precipitation over the Iberian Peninsula and an increase over central Europe. The wettest regions in Europe on Saturday will be France and Germany, with France seeing the heaviest rain in the southern Alps, and Germany in the northwestern quadrant of the nation.

The United Kingdom will see scattered cloud cover and showers throughout the day, but heavy rain will be out of the picture. Scandinavia will see some heavy precipitation from Oslo to Stockholm.

Highs in London and Paris will rise into the low 60s(F)/ mid-teens(C) while Madrid reaches into the upper 60s(F)/ low 20s(C).

Later in the day, northern Italy will see some wet weather as the low center gets closer to the Alps in the northern portion of the country.

Southeastern Europe will see generally pleasant weather on Saturday as high pressure continues to bulge into the region. Temperatures will be balmy as southerly winds draw Mediterranean air northward into the region.

High temperatures in Athens will reach into the upper 70s(F)/ mid-20s(C) while Odessa will reach nearly 70(F)/ around 20(C).

Weather History:

Did you know that...

Before careful when you golf. A golfer at the Fox Meadows Course in Memphis, Tenn. was standing near a tree when he was struck by lightning on this date in 1983. The bolt traveled through his neck, down his spine, and out a pocket containing his keys. The bolt then went into the tree nearby.
