Downtown Cincinnati was inundated with flooding this week, and aerial footage shows just how much water was actually waterlogging the city. Parts of roads were underwater as the Ohio River swelled to 60.3 feet.

Falling trees are a deadly, undercounted cause of death. They can happen for many reasons, including during active weather that produces high winds or tornadoes, during flooding, or when soil is saturated from rain. In this case, a driver near Philadelphia in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, narrowly escaped when a giant tree fell right on top of her vehicle.

Hurricane season officially begins June 1, and just like every year there are 21 names available for use. In the rare chance all names are exhausted, a supplemental list will be tapped.

A late week system will bring rain and storms across much of the East, though they will not be of the same caliber as last week. The severe threat on Thursday includes places like Little Rock, Memphis, Nashville, Louisville and Atlanta where damaging winds and large hail are possible. The system will then move up the coast Friday into Saturday, bringing the risk of flooding to parts of the mid-Atlantic, including Charlotte, DC and Philadelphia. Time it all out here.

Many in the Northeast will have a split weekend when it comes to nice weather. Saturday will be soggy across the region while a clear out is in store for most on Sunday. A ridge of high pressure shifts east, bringing a warmup to the eastern half of the country as well as ‘ridge riders’ across the northern tier.
