Tornadoes, Strong Winds Possible From Gulf To Appalachians

The severe thunderstorm threat will finally get pushed toward the Southeast for the early part of the week ahead. Damaging wind gusts, a few tornadoes and some hail will be possible from Saturday night through Monday, when the threat should be pushed into the Atlantic. New Orleans; Birmingham and Montgomery, Alabama; Atlanta, and Charleston, South Carolina could see strong storms before we finally drop the curtain on this nasty storm sequence. Missouri Roads Turn Into Rivers During Deluge

Severe flash floods swept across southern Missouri, impacting cities including West Plains, Van Buren and Springfield. In West Plains, streets were overwhelmed by more than 7 inches of rainfall, leaving vehicles submerged. Van Buren saw a rare emergency alert as rescue teams responded to rising water. Flooded roads near Springfield-Branson National Airport, including Melville Road, prompted officials to urge caution and preparedness across the region.
